It was a Ventmoor Sealyham that made me buy my first Sealyham. I saw a photo of Ch Ventmoor Cossack in Barbro Eklund´s Terrierbook and frankly I had never seen such a wonderful dog in all my life. To me they represented a wonderful type of Sealyham, a type that you rarely see today if you ever see it.
Just look at them....the Ventmoor Champions
This photo was made up in a tribute to the late Mr Arthur Wade that handled and presented the Ventmoors through all their success.
This outstanding kennel famed the world over. Many Ventmoors were exported mainly to the USA but also to South Africa. Not many kennels can produce a type which immediately can be recognized without looking at the pedigree. There is a similarity in every dog. It is said that it was done because of the strong line of good brood bitches that resided at the Ventmoor Kennel.
The breeder Mrs Ida Mercer that lived in Hereford, started her success full breeding with a combination of the famous Hell´s Cat of Ventmoor and the St Margaret´s Sealyhams. The first Ventmoor Champion was Ventmoor Chairman, 1948. The kennel bred 10 champions , the last being Ventmoor Catrelia, Champion in the USA 1955.
